RelaxRelax, Take a Chill Pill, Cool it, or Tranquilo as they say in Spain. Yes, we all need to learn how to relax sometimes, recharge the batteries and stop stressing. Wouldn't life be a much better place to live in if we all knew how to relax? The trouble is with this world, and I'm speaking from experience here, is that it's getting faster. There's always something to stress about isn't there? Work, money, the kids, the other half, there's always something to worry about, but you know, if you learn how to deal with your own anxiety it can actually make the world a much better place to be, for everybody. It actually seems to slow the world down if you just learn a few simple techniques on how to relax. How To RelaxWe're all different (thankfully) and we all find different ways of relaxing. Hobbies - some people find that a Sunday morning spent fishing or going to night classes a couple of time a week is sufficient to make them relax. Learning to paint, writing poetry, throwing a few pots (no, not that type, I mean in pottery class) or something similar can really help some people to get their lives onto a stress free plane. Music - is a great mood enhancer. If you get the chance to sit back quietly with a little background music, close your eyes and go to a "happy place" and you'll soon feel your stress levels coming back down to earth. Deep breathing and Meditation - if you can learn a few meditation techniques or just make yourself stop and take a few deep breaths, you might be surprised at how much it can help to reduce anxiety. Breathe in slowly, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and breathe out . . . Positive thinking - might not be an obvious method of learning how to relax, but that positive energy can be used to turn your life around if you learn how to use it properly. Walking - the health benefits of walking are endless. Not only is it good for the body, it's also very good for the soul. If you feel yourself getting stressed out at work, try taking a short walk in the park at lunch time, if there is no park just go around the block, breathe in a little fresh air, enjoy the weather and smile! Smiling - is a great way to relax. Do something which makes you smile, or why not go the whole hog and laugh? Watch a funny film, your favorite stand up comic or one of your old home movies. Smile and the world smiles with you, cry and your eyes go red and your nose runs! |
